Acetate Eyeglasses

Eyeglasses have been reshaped for many years using hot salt. Optometrists used to use this method themselves. Pour a box in a pan and heat it up slowly. It won’t melt. Here’s the tricky part; figuring out how to hold the glasses stationary in the position they need to be in while you pour the hot salt over them and let it cool. I’ve strategically pounded nails in a board to hold the glasses where I want them, built a little wall around them with tin foil, and then poured the salt in. Be sure to have enough salt to completely cover the glasses, salt is cheap. I can’t say whether or not your glasses can withstand the heat, but I’ve used this method many times to tighten many types of sunglasses to my temples with only good luck. Takes a little work, but saves money. Especially if the glasses are cheap sunglasses. Mine usually are. The salt is very hot, be careful.
