Why did the eye doctor tell me I HAVE to wear the eyeglasses all the time?
I don’t remember the official title for an eye doctor (so sorry bout that). Today I went to get my eyes checked, I was told I have myopia and a stigmatism (i have no idea if that’s how u spell it). He gave me a prescription and said that I have to wear the glasses ALL THE TIME. Why did he say that? One of my friends were also told the same thing.
Optometrist is the Official name of the doctor. And if you have myopia (nearsighted) and astigmatism then he must have felt that it was a strong enough prescription that in order for you to see clearly and normally that you need to wear your glasses all the time. Sometimes people only need to wear glasses for specific tasks like reading or driving because their prescription is mild. Your prescription however is stronger and needs to be worn all day in every situation. You can take them off when you go to bed but need to put them on first thing when you wake up. Hopefully, being nearsighted the glasses will improve your eyesight over time and you won’t need glasses forever, you will only know by keeping up with your yearly exams.
