Frames Brown

It sounds to me like you skipped the most important step–priming the frames.

Anytime you’re painting something that already has a paint or other finish on it, or if you’re working with raw wood, it MUST begin by applying a primer first. My favorite brand is Kilz. This will allow your paint to adhere properly.

The other issue is that you’re using craft paint. This type of paint, when used on a large surface, does not leave a very attractive finish. You would end up with a much more attractive frame if you purchase spray paint, which goes on evenly.
