Glasses Sprung

Glasses Sprung
Is 3D TV, without the glasses, basically a hologram?

Or, does it just look like 2D stuff popping out at your face? Just like the new DS coming out this spring, it’ll be in complete 3D, but it wouldn’t have glasses. How does that work, exactly? Does it act like a projection?

With 3d you have 2 2d movies on the screen at the same time. One for the left eye only, and one for the right eye only. The images don’t always match up that is why you see double images spaced apart some times without glasses on, they don’t match up all the time. That is what makes them pop out in front of the screen and behind the screen. Each eye is looking at a different spot on the screen for spaced images. The job of the 3d glasses is to block the 2d movie for the other eye, so each eye only sees one 2d movie. They get 2 movies with a 3d camera that has 2 lenses spaced apart like your eyes, and they both record video at the same time.

Now for the 3d television that doesn’t use glasses it has to project each movie into the correct eye. Half the pixels angle slightly to the right, the other half slightly to the left. Then when you are a certain distance from the screen they angle into the correct eye. Then you send each of the 2 movies to the correct pixels.

It still looks the same as a 3d tv that uses glasses. Just different in how it gets the 2 2d movies to your eyes.
