Cleaning a electric guitar help!?
Hey guys,
I was wondering which would be best to clean a guitar? A micro-fibre cloth (the ones used for eyeglasses) or just a regular plain white 100% clean cotten t-shirt?
Would the micro-fibre cloth leave micro stratches on my guitar? I have a Gibson les paul studio.
Also, I was reading on the internet and got feedback from people on Yahoo, they were saying don’t use any organic solvents and the best way to clean your guitar is a damp cloth (warm water) and just wipe the guitar body. The only thing i need to get off the guitar is really the grimey fingerprints on the finish on the back of the fretboard.
Would water do anything to the finish? And which oil is better to clean the fretboard? Lemon, olive or almond?

I’ve always used Scott’s’ Liquid Gold and a soft cloth to clean my guitars. SLG is a wood cleaner and preservative and leaves guitars
looking good. On the finget board I use Fast Fret. Cleans and speeds up your strings, and preserves the wood on the finger board.
Water turns finishes wood milky for a while, until it dries,
and could warp the neck with the strings tight.
